North Carolina · Real estate education

Sharper agents make better markets.

Most real estate education exists to check a box. Old Carolina Academy exists for the agents who keep learning after the box is checked: the tools, the data, and the judgment the job actually demands, taught by a broker who still closes deals.

About

Built for the agent who wants to be good at this.

Agents who last are the ones who keep getting better. Not louder, not busier. Better at reading a market, better at explaining it to a client, better at knowing when the software is wrong.

We focus on high-level professional development: the technology and data fluency that separates an agent who can pull a report from one who can tell a client what it means. Sessions are practical, current, and taught in plain language by someone who uses these tools every week in a live brokerage.

Old Carolina Academy is based in eastern North Carolina and teaches in-person sessions for boards, brokerages, and agent groups across the state.

How it works

What a session actually looks like

Travis Old teaching an RPR session to a room of agents working on laptops
RPR session · Greensboro, North Carolina · April 16, 2026

Format

Half a day, in person, in a room small enough to ask questions. One instructor, one subject, worked through on real listings and real numbers rather than slides about them.

What to bring

  • Your laptop or phone, logged into the tools you already have.
  • A listing or a buyer you are working right now. We use your files, not sample data.
  • The questions you have been meaning to ask someone.

What you leave with

  • A workflow you can repeat on Monday without notes.
  • At least one thing you were doing wrong, fixed.
  • The instructor's direct line for the follow-up question you think of in the car.

What it is not

Not a licensing course, and sessions do not carry North Carolina continuing-education credit. No software pitch, no vendor in the room, no recorded lecture to replay at 1.5× speed.

    AI tools for working agents

What the current tools are good for, what they get wrong, and how to use them without embarrassing yourself in front of a client.

Why this exists

I got my license the way most people do: to sell houses. What I did not expect was how much of the job would turn out to be teaching. Explaining a market to a buyer. Explaining a comp to a seller. Explaining, to myself, why a deal went sideways.

Somewhere in there I started keeping notes, then teaching the notes to agents in my own brokerage, then to rooms of agents I had never met. Old Carolina Academy is those notes, organised, kept current, and taught in person.

A license gets you in the door. Staying in the room for ten, fifteen, twenty years takes something else: the habit of getting better.
